Thanks for visiting. No hard feelings.<\/p>\n<p>I fully support the OPT clarification \u2014 <strong>you can\u2019t just loiter around hoping opportunity will fall<\/strong> <strong>into your lap.<\/strong><br \/>\nOPT is a privilege, not a promise.<br \/>\nYou came to learn, not lounge.<br \/>\nYou came to build, not chill.<br \/>\nThis rule is not inhumane \u2014 it\u2019s clarity. And honestly, <strong>we need more of that<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Twisted Plot: Social Media Vetting for Student Visas<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But then comes the twisted plot: &#8220;Let\u2019s expand social media vetting before granting student visas.&#8221; Bravo, Big Brother. Because clearly, that 2 am meme I posted mocking a politician\u2019s hair is the real national security threat.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t get me wrong \u2014 vetting is fine. Countries have every right to protect themselves. But let\u2019s not pretend this is about safety when it smells of ideological filtering.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What Qualifies as &#8220;Anti-American&#8221; Content?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the problem: what qualifies as &#8220;<strong>anti-American<\/strong>&#8221; today?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Opposing a war?<\/li>\n<li>Criticizing healthcare chaos?<\/li>\n<li>Sharing a video that says climate change is real?<\/li>\n<li>Making a sarcastic reel on how American visas are harder than escaping Squid Game?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If that\u2019s the bar, then congratulations \u2014 90% of <strong>international students<\/strong> just failed. And 100% of honest ones won\u2019t even apply for a <strong>US student visa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>America: The Land of Free Speech\u2026 Unless You Tweet Wrong?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Let me remind everyone of something carved deep into the idea of America: the <strong>First Amendment<\/strong>. A right so sacred, people can burn the US flag and not go to jail.<\/p>\n<p>But now you\u2019re telling me that a frustrated comment, a political meme, or a quote tweet of John Oliver might cost someone an education and lead to <strong>visa rejection<\/strong>? Freedom of speech is not freedom of stupidity. But it also shouldn\u2019t be a license to selectively suppress dissent. Otherwise, let\u2019s just call it what it is \u2014 freedom for those who agree.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Balancing Security and Freedom for F1 Visa Applicants<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what needs to happen:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2705 Vet social media? Sure.<\/li>\n<li>\u274c Turn it into a loyalty test? Hell no.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Make it clear:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What kind of content disqualifies someone?<\/li>\n<li>Is it hate speech or just hate memes?<\/li>\n<li>Is it about promoting violence or simply questioning a policy?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Because if &#8220;criticism&#8221; is enough to cancel an <strong>F1 visa<\/strong>, you\u2019ve officially made education conditional on ideological compliance. And that\u2019s not democracy \u2014 that\u2019s autocracy with a better PR team.<\/p>\n<h3>Critical Feedback for US Immigration Policy<\/h3>\n<p>I\u2019ve studied in the US. I loved it. I grew up \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 there. But I also know this \u2014 the minute you stop accepting criticism, you stop growing. That\u2019s true for people. That\u2019s true for countries.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not anti-US. Hell, I\u2019d probably pass the vetting test. Maybe. Unless they find this blog. But I refuse to sugarcoat the stupidity just to stay eligible. If saying what\u2019s obvious makes me unfit to enter, then your idea of &#8220;fit&#8221; needs therapy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Final Thoughts on OPT, Visas, and Censorship<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>OPT rule? Perfectly fair.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Social media filter? Potentially fascist.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Control the system. Don\u2019t control the mind.<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you want thinkers, expect thought.
