Let\u2019s ask for some heads.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We can&#8217;t be okay with this.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is very normal for everyone to feel this way after the gruesome gang rape of an innocent girl in Delhi. The question is: Will all this help?<\/p>\n<p>Just 3 days back I was comparing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kapilgupta.in\/blog\/why-would-anyone-shoot-20-people-in-newtown\/\" target=\"_blank\">safety in India vs US<\/a> (Delhi versus Newtown). And here we are, a sad reminder to the world and what&#8217;s changing around us.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">My humble opinion is that it\u2019s not about guns &amp; not about police\/security, it is not about lust &amp; not about man&#8217;s propensity for sex, it is about mental health of people. And the question still remains, what are we doing to improve the mental health of people?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kapilgupta.in\/blog\/gruesome-gangrapes-a-problem-judicial-social-or-rather-mental\/rape_1302915g\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-53\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-53 alignleft\" alt=\"rape_1302915g\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kapilgupta.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/rape_1302915g-300x199.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kapilgupta.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/rape_1302915g-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.kapilgupta.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/rape_1302915g.jpg 630w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>I have been thinking a lot about this over the last couple of days, and in my opinion, what is required is an ongoing, sustained education \/ information exchange between the women, the public, the policy makers, the implementers, the on-ground people, the society overall &amp; last but not the least (the attackers) to determine how to keep the menaces away from our streets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To that effect, we as OMLogic, have started a new initiative called Delhi for Women Safety. It is not a community to bash the government, the police and\/or ask for capital punishment. We will help devise workable solutions to ensure a safer Delhi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some quick ones that come to my mind are:<\/p>\n<p>What should be done to provide added security for women in the night? Police patrol, citizen involvement, more lighted streets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">How should you educate women about being safe? Pepper spray, police protection, how to walk, how to be safe, etc etc.<br \/>\nHow to improve the mental health of people? Education, better employment, sex-education camps.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Should prostitution be legalized in this country? What are the ramifications? Would it help?<\/p>\n<p>But, we can&#8217;t do it alone. This problem can only be removed by all of us working together.
