Lets Blow the Trumpet!

Lets Blow the Trumpet!

November 10, 2016 0

Its been an amazing last 36 hours. The world has changed more in the last 36 hours than it does over decades. 9/11 and 11/9 are 2 dates that the world will remember for a very very long time to come.

If you are Indian, its even more special for you. More on that in a separate discussion.

I don’t want to debate on whether Trump is the right guy or wrong. But its representational for sure. Lets look at emerging political themes we have in 2016 globally and will continue to see over the next 10 years:

  • Majority is the new minority: Minorities have governed politics for the last 50 years. Its been a great consolidator globally. They get together, they vote as a block, they support each other. And thus, they have gotten what they have wanted. Majorities now will do the same. Consolidate and take control.
  • Right is the new right: Right wing decisive (I don’t think its divisive) politics is the name of the game.
  • Anti-establishment: There is a growing popular belief that politics has become elitist club based and there is a growing frustration amongst people against it. If you can help break these barriers, you are my leader.
  • Strong-headedness, almost eccentric: These are the kind of people that scared everyone. Not anymore. These are the people who are change-makers.
  • Nationalism beyond everything else: The concept of nationalism is changing. Boundaries are becoming more stronger than they ever were over decades and people care about only those inside the boundary. Those who are part of the majority within this boundary. Those who belong there versus who came there.
  • Middle-class is the most exploited: People who work hard are asking for what they deserve. Politics of rich keeping control and distributing to the poor is giving way to everyone getting paid based on the work they do and what they deserve.

Next-up, Angela Merkel.
